Located on 40 acres adjacent to Spring Creek in The Woodlands, the YMCA Lodge and Camp are carefully integrated into the forest. While the Lodge, archery range and soccer fields are on higher ground, the camp is within the 100-year flood plain. Elevated boardwalks lead campers through treetops to an outdoor chapel, treehouses, misting platform, restrooms and the upper level of an amphitheater sculpted into sloping topography. An Alpine Tower ropes course and three groups of large teepees located on decks are connected by a decomposed granite trail system.
The YMCA of Greater Houston serves the Montgomery County area with children’s day camps here throughout the summer.
Lauren Griffith Associates served as the prime design consultant for the camp. Kirksey provided architectural services for the lodge and restroom facility. The camp opened in June, 2010.
